10" BREAD KNIFE

SKU: ah-0041

This knife was forged from an old farm file that was harvested from my Uncle's barn. You can still see the pattern of the file on the face of the blade. It is nice to think that this old, well used tool will be given a new life.

Most old files, such as this one, are made from W2 or 1095 steel; which makes for an excellent knife and should hold a sharp edge for a long time. The blade was given a differential heat treatment and etched, creating a grey patina.

The serrations were individually filed by hand and should provide for a nice clean cut through bread with a smooth, light sawing motion.

The sculpted handle is made from stabilized sycamore and walnut.
